ACEERS: Huntington's Best Kept Green Secret...Revealed!
Billii Roberti, our guest speaker for the ATLI Environmental Committee April 6th meeting, will speak with us about the Town of Huntington’s Sustainability Office and her role as the Recording Secretary on the Advisory Committee on Energy Efficiency, Renewables & Sustainability (ACEERS). She will discuss collaborations with other groups like ours and what we can do to help each other get the word out about positive changes being made locally and regionally.
Ms. Roberti has been serving as an ACEERS member with expertise in renovation and alternative/renewable energy since 2011 and as the Recording Secretary since 2013. The town’s website describes the success and growth of ACEERS as a reflection of the town’s “growingly diverse commitment to advance policies and programs that go well beyond the topic of renewable energy alone and extend to the spheres of efficiency and sustainable living”.
As an ACEERS member, Ms. Roberti has collaborated with a variety of municipalities, industry experts and agencies, such as PSEG Long Island. Her group has made recommendations to the Town Board on a variety of energy-related topics, such as “energy efficiency, clean and renewable energy technologies, air pollution reduction, water quality protection, job creation and energy cost-savings for taxpayers”. Ms. Roberti also helped create Home Energy Efficiency clinics for homeowners that were presented at local libraries, participated in the Solarize Huntington project and helped prepare the Climate Action plan that led to Huntington earning the Climate Smart Community and later the Clean Energy Community designations.
Ms. Roberti is looking forward to meeting all of us and working together toward the establishment of more sustainable communities! Hope you all can join us!
